Play: Super Ninja Slash – Flash Stealth Platformer

Check out this Flash stealth game that’s more than a little like Mark of the Ninja.

Kyle Pulver, the independent developer behind Snapshot and the horrifically charming Offspring Fling, has recently released Super Ninja Slash, a quick but robust Flash stealth game. Think of it as something akin to a proto-Mark of the Ninja, with all the wall clinging and viewcone avoidance, but a new neat tricks of its own. Give it a play at the link above. As you can see, we’re finding it suprisingly challenging:

One Response to Play: Super Ninja Slash – Flash Stealth Platformer

Perhaps I’m being unfair but to me these guards have more in common with the spinning blades of super meat boy than they do with a person one might be evading. Thankfully the penalty for death is virtually non-existant. I’m hesitant to call this stealth though. I know there are vision cones and human silhouettes on the screen but they don’t really feel like that especially when one of the better non-lethal tactics is literally running full speed at a ‘guard’ and jumping so you arc out of his vision cone before he can turn around and then landing behind him but running away before they can turn back around to respond to the sound. That’s just not really ‘stealth’ to me I guess, it’s just a carefully twitched platform jump.
